Most of us are on a quest to figure out “life” — what it means to truly live. In this pursuit, we typically focus first on ourselves. What am I supposed to do to find and experience life? But what if this quest for life is really a pursuit of identity — and only secondarily our identity? What if the most important dimension in this quest for life is how well we truly know the identity of Another?
Life is found in the one true God who reveals himself as “I am.” We cannot truly live unless we’re becoming who we’re meant to be — and we cannot become who we’re meant to be unless we know him as he truly is.
Our response to God’s self-disclosure in Christ determines whether we will truly live. Our chance at the life we deeply long for is wrapped up in how deeply we know this One who calls himself “I Am.”
